Jenny Lawson is an award-winning humor writer and activist, widely acclaimed for her distinctive voice and inspiring candor while chronicling her life-long struggles with depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. Lawson first built a following as creator of the long-running, celebrated site The Bloggess. Her first full-length book, Let’s Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir (2012), debuted at #1 on the New York Times Bestseller List. Lawson’s follow up, Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things, also hit #1. In a rave review, Parade observed: “Take one part David Sedaris and two parts Chelsea Handler and you’ll have some inkling of the cockeyed humor of Jenny Lawson.” In her latest release, How to Be Okay When Nothing Is Okay, Lawson shares more than 100 humorous yet heartfelt tools and tricks that she personally uses to persevere in the face of depression and other chronic conditions. With chapter headers like “Wash Your Brain More Than You Wash Your Bra” (about the merits of a good night’s sleep), Lawson’s first foray into the self-hep genre is like none other.
