Trevor Baldwin is the nephew of – and family ambassador for – one of the last century’s most indispensable literary luminaries. James Baldwin was the singular voice behind transcendent classics like his semi-autobiographical debut Go Tell It on the Mountain, incisive cultural critique Nobody Knows My Name, and the Civil Rights Era touchstone The Fire Next Time. His nephew, Trevor, is an accomplished public relations professional, screenwriter, and essayist. As the family’s standard bearer for his uncle’s legacy, Trevor has been involved with numerous high-profile Baldwin initiatives to date. Examples include leading a grassroots push to rededicate a Harlem street as “James Baldwin Place,” executive producing Penguin Random House’s successful The Baldwin 100 Podcast, and spearheading the James Baldwin Centennial Committee. Trevor Baldwin also founded Baldwin United, a nonprofit collective action fund dedicated to preserving and furthering the literary and social justice legacies of the iconic writer. Trevor tours the country speaking about how the two-time National Book Award finalist’s voice is as relevant and needed today as ever before.
